Recipe for Men Antiperspirant Deodorant

A few months back I was introduced to Swedish skincare brand, Recipe for Men, who firmly believe that men’s skincare should be simple and logical without all the bells and whistles. I really like this believe, especially today where most skincare products for men are very similar to those for women which can be mainly attributed to the fact that many of these brands have a long history of making products for woman and that is what they know very well. Now, whilst you may nick your girlfriend or wife’s moisturiser without her knowing (or so you think), it is important that you understand there are some differences in men’s skin and not all products made for woman will work for you as well. This is where Recipe for Men comes in – they produce products for men by men and in one of the most ideal places as well where the harsh Scandinavian climate with it’s cold and extremely dry air can easily wreck your skin during winter.

I won’t go into too much detail about Recipe for Men again (you can read about the company in the first review I did about their amazing eye patches by clicking here) however, there are important differences between men’s and women’s skin which they make sure not to overlook when producing products for men. Over the festive season I have been using their Alcohol-Free Antiperspirant Deodorant and I am happy to report back on my findings.

First Impressions

The antiperspirant comes in a very handy 60ml / 2.0 fl. oz. container which make it instantly easy to carry around especially if you travel for business or leisure. The container is transparent, so the milky liquid is clearly visible behind the mostly red texted label. Simplistic with no curls or twirls. I like it!

The Test

I received this quite a few months ago but intentionally waited to use it so I can really put it to the test and when will be a good time other than the silly season or the party season as most people know it. Because of the work I do and the social life I try and have, I had quite a few Christmas parties lined up this year with a number of end-of-year events which meant, some days I literally ran between places to make sure I attend as much and as far as possible. There is nothing as unattractive and disturbing as visible sweaty pits at a Christmas party so this little potent bottle had a lot to proof. It promises 24-hour control with a formula that supposedly will neutralise bacteria for longer lasting odour control. I started using it at the beginning of December which is just under a month ago now and I am happy to report that it does what is says on the ‘box’. I applied this once in the morning and only on a few occasions did I have to reapply before the end of the day. What I love about is that it is an alcohol-free formula that absorbs quite quickly, its non-staining and its non-sticky. It’s got a very mild fragrance and is not overpowering at all which makes it a very nice product to use as it won’t steal your after shave or EDT’s thunder.

Yay or nay?

Yes, I like this antiperspirant and will probably continue to use it. I am in a way obsessed with making sure I smell good throughout the day and for the first time did not need to revert to my secret stash of antiperspirants at the office. It was easy to pack when I travelled and I was really impressed with how well it work during a very special time in the year. The one thing that grated me a bit was that the container does not seem to seal very well (where the roller ball is) so on a few occasions there was some leakage which is slightly annoying but easily controllable so I will suggest you wrap this one up in a small plastic bag if you intend to use it while travelling. In general I was really impressed with this product and will continue to use it for now.

You can purchase the Recipe for Men Alcohol-free Antiperspirant online from various retailers across the globe. Please visit their website to find your nearest stockist and price. In the UK this product retails for £15.00 for 60ml / 2.0 fl. oz.

Don’t forget the easiest way to prevent malodours: Bathe daily with an antibacterial soap to keep the amount of bacteria on your skin in check. Be sure to scrub your armpits and chest well because the hair in these areas can house bacteria that make your sweat smell fouler and make sure you use a good antiperspirant product that will keep the unnecessary wetness at bay.
